Bus right-turns at 'death trap' A5 Shrewsbury junction to be banned as company puts safety first
A bus company is to ban one of its most popular services from making right turns out of a 'death trap' junction onto the A5.
Arriva's X5 Shrewsbury to Oswestry service turns right onto the major trunk road at Montford Bridge as it makes its way towards Nesscliffe into north Shropshire.
A spokesperson for Arriva said: “For the safety of our colleagues, passengers and other road users using the A5, and to provide more consistent running times, buses travelling between Shrewsbury and Oswestry will no longer make the right turn from Montford Bridge onto the A5.”
The buses have been known to wait for minutes at a time as the driver judges when to cross over the busy and fast road.
