Storm Darragh: Christmas event goes ahead in Oswestry today but with these changes
A Christmas event in Oswestry tonight will be going ahead but will close earlier than planned because of the forecast foul weather, the town's council has announced.

With Storm Darragh approaching and weather warnings in place there have also been some alterations to what is happening at the Christmas Live event which will end at 9pm.
A Giant Snow Globe photo booth on Festival Square will not be part of it.
A spokesperson for Oswestry Fire Station said they had spoken to Oswestry Town Council about Oswestry Live.
“We have spoken to Oswestry Town Council and tonight is going ahead but likely will slow down/close a little earlier around 9pm,” said a fire service spok esperson.
“Please wrap up warm and stay safe, high winds are expected tonight into tomorrow. Should the evening's fireworks still go ahead this will take place around 8:30pm.”
Fairground rides will be held across the town and will be risk assessed throughout the evening and some may be closed.
Santa’s Grotto – Derwen Charity will be helping Santa in his grotto in the indoor market from 5-8pm – presents and photo opportunities for a suggested donation.
Santa will be visiting the market again on Saturday morning from 11am-2pm.
Live music on stage at Bailey Head – Jazz band The Wynnberries take to the stage 6-7pm and The Bartells will be performing from 7pm.
Porthywaen Silver Band will be playing outside NatWest Bank from 7pm.
Juggling Jim and two magical snow fairies on stilts will be performing on Bailey Head from 6pm
Indoor Market – retail stalls, bar and eateries open until late.
Street market – lots of Christmas goodies along Bailey Street
“If you are coming along, please layer up and wear your waterproofs,” said a spokesperson for the council.
Temporary road closures and car parking reminder:
Road closures: Albion Hill, Bailey head, Bailey Street, Church Street, Cross Street, English Walls, New Street, Smithfield Street, Smithfield Road and Willow Street (The Cross to Castle Street) will be closed from 3pm to 11pm.
Car parks: Central Car Park is open but there will be some fairground rides at the top corner by M&S.
Smithfield Car Park behind M&S will be closed for fairground rides.
Horsemarket is open as usual. Parking is free in the town's council run car parks after 6pm.
