A woman has been seriously injured after she was hit by a car.

The incident took place on Holyhead Road in Telford earlier this afternoon - Monday, December 9.

Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service have been at the scene, near the Aldi on the route.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said they had been called shortly after 1pm.

She said: "We were called to reports of a car which had collided with a pedestrian on Holyhead Road, Telford at 1.05pm today (Monday 9th December). 

"One ambulance responded to the scene and treated a pedestrian, a woman, who had sustained serious injuries in the collision.

"She was stabilised on scene before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further checks."

West Mercia Police said: "Officers were called to Holyhead Road in Telford at around 1.10pm this afternoon (Monday 9 December), following a report that a pedestrian had collided with a car. One woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. No arrests have been made."
