The Craven Arms Hotel, in Shrewsbury Road, Craven Arms, is subject to plans for the ground floor to be turned into seven apartments.

One objector, Lyndon Essex, said: “The Craven Arms Hotel is an important historical building in the town, and should be maintained as a pub/restaurant.

“The town is, after all, named after the pub.

"I did support the original application as I felt converting the top two floors into flats was a compromise necessary to keep the pub open.

“However, if this amended application was granted then it would mean there would be no possibility on retaining a pub at this historic location, and that would be a great loss to the town.
