Rhayader Town Council supports call for CCTV in the town
Rhayader Town Council would support local policing in trying to obtain CCTV for the town.
The police have been having a number of petty crime incidents recently and they are increasingly having to go to business owners and shops to ask if they can look at their CCTV coverage said Councillor Angela Davies at a recent meeting.
She said some of the businesses are getting nervous about it as they say it could look as though they are telling tales on their customers and clients.
Councillor Davies said the police has said that most towns these days have CCTV and it would help the police in their roles if Rhayader also had it.
Rhayader Mayor Councillor Clare Evans questioned the value of CCTV and Councillor Christian Walton said he did not think the town’s infrastructure is up to running CCTV at the moment. He said the town council could put pressure on BT Openreach etc to improve the infrastructure.
Members agreed to support Dyfed Powys Police in trying to obtain CCTV.
