Three fire engines were deployed to High Street, Much Wenlock this afternoon to safely remove the guttering before it crashed down onto the footpath.

It comes after a weekend of high winds battering Shropshire, leaving trees down in roads and thousands of homes without power at one stage.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “At 12.37pm on Monday, December 9, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as ‘collapse of structures’ in Much Wenlock.

“Three fire appliances including the aerial ladder platform were mobilised from Much Wenlock and Telford Central. An operations officer was in attendance.”
