Storm Darragh: Floods, power cuts and dramatic pictures of Shrewsbury underwater

River levels have peaked in Shrewsbury as these pictures show the extent of flooding caused by Storm Darragh.

Flood barriers have come down at Coleham Head, meaning Longden Road and Belle Vue Road are now open again.

But river levels are expected to remain high over the coming days.

A flood warning for the River Severn in Shrewsbury on the Environment Agency’s flood checker service said: “River levels have peaked at the Welsh Bridge river gauge following heavy rainfall.

“Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland continues.  

“We expect flooding to affect Gravel Hill lane, Sydney Avenue, Frankwell car park and Victoria Avenue.
