The three men were found inside a building which had been re-purposed for the illegal production of the drug, with 14 rooms crammed with cannabis plants - and incredibly a second floor added to the unit to fit more in.

The details were revealed at a sentencing hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court, where Emiljano Xhafa, Ramadan Kapaj, and Genti Binjaku, all admitted one charge of being concerned in the production of a class B drug.

The three were discovered when police raided the abandoned unit on Hortonwood in Telford on November 8.

They were caught as they tried to escape out of a back door, one of them using a crowbar.

Judge Anthony Lowe was told various details of how the men came to be at the unit - with one having come to the UK on a dinghy in search of work, only to be sent to Telford by a gang growing the drugs.

Barristers representing all three men said they wanted to return home to Albania as soon as possible.
