The former St Patrick's School and Blessed Robert Johnson student had kept his talents largely to himself, and surprised quite a few people when he began to belt out a powerful rendition of Olivia Rodrigo's 'Traitor'.

But no one was more surprised than Callum himself when Welsh legend Sir Tom Jones hit his big red button and chose the then 29-year-old for his team.

Talking about Callum, Sir Tom called him a "raw talent" who he was "lucky" to have found.

A whirlwind experience followed for the builder, who went on to progress through the callbacks and semi-finals and eventually landed himself in the finals.

In the end, Callum missed out on the top spot to duo Jen & Liv - but his life had already been changed forever.

"It was in the final that I had that moment where I was like - I am going to do this as a career. So many people had believed in me that I really started believing in myself.

"I'd never believed in myself, watching all the support I'd had from family, friends and my coach Sir Tom, I finally realised I can do it."

Over the last year, Callum has sold out shows right across Shropshire, performed at Newport and Oakengates carnivals, TikTok legend Spudman's wedding, Parklands Festival, Dawley and Malinslee's Christmas light switch-on.

His highlight - a jam-packed performance at Wellington's late-night market in September.

"I've been going to that market since I was a baby, to see it filled with 800, 900 people all singing along - it was really one of the best gigs I've done," he said.

"Looking back over the last year I never would have predicted it, not in a million years. I never saw myself here. The community support, especially in Telford, has been second to none. And that's why I want to keep going, keep progressing.

"I want to be the best for all the people that have supported me, that have got me here, I want to achieve it all for them."

Now, having now bagged a social media agent, Callum is on the look out for official mangement and getting ready to release music in the new year.

But before that, he is set to perform a special Christmas show at the Anstice in Madeley - the first local venue he sold out after his debut on The Voice.

This time though he said it will be bigger and better than ever, having now ditched the backing track and regularly performing with his full band - Callum and The Pookies.

The show is taking place at 7pm on December 21, tickets are available for £10, online at ticketstelford.com or from reception at The Anstice.
