Hendra House beat off strong competition to be crowned the 'Care Home of the Year' for the Midlands and Wales region at the Caring UK Awards in Leicester.

The Ludlow care home was also the runner-up for the 'National Care Home of the Year' award at the awards ceremony that celebrated and recognised achievements in the UK elderly care and domicillary sector.

Organised by Script Events and leading industry publication Caring UK, the awards is in its seventh year. A winning care home in each category was chosen by an expert panel that included National Care Association executive co-chairman, Nadra Ahmed CBE and CEO of Alive Activities, Isobel Jones.

Owner of Hendra House, Vince Burmingham said "This award recognises the quality of care consistently delivered at the home by our amazing staff team."

The accolade comes after the care home was chosen as the 'Best Employer' (two to 49 employees) at the 2024 National Investors In People National Awards during November.

TV personality, Emma Jesson hosted the awards at the Athena in Leicester that was attended by more than 400 people.

Caring UK Awards director, Dominic Musgrave added: "This year's winners should be very very proud - the high standard of entries made it a tough job to select a final shortlist never mind a winner and runner-up in each category.

"Our awards' night was a great celebration of the care industry as a whole and it was great to see so many businesses represented at the event. It was a wonderful evening and it was lovely to share in the celebrations of the winners."
