At a meeting of the Services and Facilities Committee on Thursday, December 12, town councillors voted unanimously to pay £22,160 to fund junior and senior youth sessions during 2025/26.

For 2024/25, Market Drayton Town Council committed £20,360 for the weekly sessions, which are run by the Shropshire Youth Assocation at the Phoenix Centre on Wednesday evenings. The town council does not fund trips for the group.

Junior sessions for children aged 10 to 12 are held between 5.15pm and 6.45pm, and well attended according to the council. However, attendance numbers are lower for senior sessions that are for children aged 13 and over, and run between 7pm and 8.30pm.
