Businesses and shops were once again encouraged to create a Christmas-themed window to enter this year's competition and to make sure their lights were turned on and shining bright for judging by Mayor Roy Aldcroft.

Mr Aldcroft toured the town on Monday, December 2 to take a look at this year's offerings and judge which window he thinks is the best.

Today, the mayor visited those shops and businesses within the town to present them with a certificate and prize for the competition.

Second place went to Peony & Tonic for its Santa and golden lights display, and third went to Allsorts situated on Stafford Street for its well-illuminated and busy windows.

The town's council also gave a special mention to the newly opened Severn Hospice shop for a "delightful arrangement".

Mayor Roy Aldcroft said: "So many brilliant displays from local retailers made it extremely difficult to choose just three for prizes. The response from local businesses to complement the town council’s Christmas light display was stunning, sponsoring trees and magical windows to add to the Christmas celebration was fantastic."
