Residents 'very much in favour' of new trees at Market Drayton park - but councillor raises security concern

Councillors have debated proposals from a Market Drayton resident to plant trees in a grassed area surrounding a play park.

It was decided at a meeting of the Services and Facilities committee on Thursday (December 12) that Market Drayton Town Council would seek advice from Shropshire Council and see if the local authority can provide any trees.

A request from a resident of the north Shropshire town asked if trees could be planted on the green surrounding the Hampton Drive Park children’s play area.

The request said that residents "are very much in favour" of having trees planted and want to encourage having different species in the area to improve biodiversity, as well as improve the appearance of the play park. 

The request read: "The trees will eventually provide some shade and help with occasional flooding of the area.
