As part of its budget setting and financial planning process, the town council has decided on its core grants to be awarded in 2025/26.

A total of £13,000 has been awarded in support of Ludlow Town Concert Band, the town's Piano Festival, Ludlow Hockey Club, Ludlow Assembly Rooms, and the south Shropshire town's Visitor Information Centre.

However, not all applicants, including Ludlow in Bloom, have been successful in securing funding - marking the end of an era for the beloved community project, whose members work to keep the town looking beautiful, and whose responsibilities will now be taken in-house by the town council.

During a period of more than 25 years, Ludlow in Bloom has successfully been awarded gold several times in the Heart of England in Bloom competition. But, this year the town did not enter the competition after councillors rowed over whether there was a 'litter crisis' in the area.
