Knighton Town Council refuses grants for two groups for this year because of low finances
Knighton organisations who asked for grants from the town council have been refused for this year.
The Knighton Museum asked the town council for a £1200 grant to cover annual container storage costs.
The container in Bucknell is to guarantee that loaned and donated artefacts are not damaged and that they have been stored securely.
Knighton & District Tourism Group also asked for £188 to replace damaged flags around the town.
But after hearing about the precarious nature of the council’s finances, Councillor Andrew Craggs proposed that due to budgetary concerns the council is not in a position to make any more donations this year.
But he said the council will consider them favourably for the budget next year.
Councillor Mark Vaughan seconded the motion and members agreed unanimously.
