Two major Kington events will not go ahead next year partly due to a shortage of volunteers.

Kington Walks will not hold their spring festival in April and will instead focus on their larger September event, while Marches Makers Festival will not go ahead in May 2025 either.

Both organisations said they are short of volunteers and need the time out to re-focus on their events.

Councillor Bob Widdowson raised the issue at a recent town council meeting.

He said: “So many organisations in this town depend on volunteers support and both Kington Walks and Marches Makers have cancelled events for similar reasons.”

Councillor Nicki Cornish said the council has talked about holding a volunteer event, so local people can learn about the organisations operating in the town and maybe sign up to help some of them.

She said it will also give groups a chance to tell people what they do in the town.

The council agreed to consider a volunteer event at the next meeting.
