Car and bin lorry collide at busy Telford interchange

Emergency services were called to a busy interchange in Telford after a collision involving a car and a refuse lorry.

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 10.43am today (December 19) reporting the road traffic collision at the Randlay Interchange connecting the A442 with Stafford Park.

Four fire crews were sent from Telford Central and Wellington fire stations to the scene.

The collision involved one car and a bin lorry.

It was initially reported that one person was trapped after the crash, though that person had extricated themselves by the time firefighters arrived. 

The driver of the car, a man, made his own way to hospital. 

The incident concluded at 11.03am. 

A West Mercia Police statement said: "Police were called to a collision involving a car and a bin lorry on the Randlay Interchange at around 10.40am this morning (19 December). The road was not blocked. 

"The driver of the car made his own way to hospital."
