Emergency services rush to shop fire in Market Drayton town centre

Emergency services were called to a Market Drayton town centre shop during the early hours of this morning after a fire within the doorway of the premises.

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 12.43am reporting the property fire at a shop on Shropshire Street.

Three fire crews from Hodnet, Prees and Market Drayton fire stations were sent to the scene. Land ambulance and the police also attended the incident.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and covering jet to extinguish the fire "involving the doorway of the shop".

The SRFS incident log reported that all persons were accounted for. 

Crews also used a thermal imaging camera to make the scene safe.

The incident concluded at 1.42am.
