Emergency services were called to the shop premises on Shropshire Street in Market Drayton at around 12.45am on Thursday.

Police have appealed for witnesses and are treating the incident as "arson with intent to endanger life".

Fortunately nobody was injured in the fire, but the barber, who told the Shropshire Star that he has spent two weeks converting the premises from a flooring and furnishing shop, arrived on Thursday morning to a devastating scene following a trip to B&Q.

"I was crying," said the barber, who did not wish to be named. "I work hard and wake up at 7am each day and I work on this shop. Sometimes I go back home after 8pm or 9pm.
