Firefighters rescue baby locked in car in Oswestry supermarket car park

A baby was locked in a car at a supermarket, prompting a call to the fire brigade.

The incident happened at Aldi in Oswestry. Crews had to use small gear to help the owner get into the car and to the child, who was safe and well when rescued.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 11.40am on Friday, December 20, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as ‘urgent' in Oswestry.

“Small child locked inside vehicle. Crews assisted vehicle owner to gain access."

One fire engine was sent to the scene from within the town.
