A price review by Ofwat, the industry regulator, means companies will be allowed to raise their bills around the country.
The average household is facing a £31-a-year rise over the next five years, which Severn Trent Water said will give it the green light for £15 billion of planned network investment for its 4.6 million customers.
Plans include reducing water leaks from mains pipes and improving river health by reducing spills from storm overflows.
Campaigners Claire Kirby from Up Sewage Creek and Paul Cawthorne from the Save Our Severn group have spoken on the water bill increase and are hoping to see river health improvements in Shropshire.
Both referred to CEO of Severn Trent Water, Liv Garfield who was awarded a £3.2 million pay package last year.
