Sarah Kaul, from the community grocery, said the event was specifically to provide some Christmas joy for families and children who struggle to afford the festivities at this time of year.

She said: "We are doing it for people who would not normally be able to even afford to go and see Santa or have extra presents at Christmas. We just want to do whatever we can for the community."

It is the third year the group has run the event.

Saran Cliff, one of the organisers said: "When we held this event in 2022, Community Grocery Telford had 2,500 members, last year the grocery had 5,000 members and this year, it’s 6,000 members!

"We are so pleased to put this event on again to make sure that every single child in Telford gets to see Santa and to go home with some lovely gifts. Which will include a toy donated by the wonderful supporters of the community grocery, reindeer food and a selection box!"

"Our aim is to support the local community in ensuring that anyone struggling with taking their child to meet Santa or get them a gift could come along and make that happen, whilst enjoying some festive cheer and the warmth of the community around them. We are excited to put on this magical event again this year. It is a wonderful day with wonderful people."
