A Powys village is holding its first Christmas tree festival this year.

St Mary's Church, in New Radnor is hosting a wonderful display of trees until Saturday, December 28.

There are ten trees on display from the community including the Bellringers, Women’s Institute, the Community Centre, the Hub, the Book Club and Poetry Group, the Radnor Arms, Esco's and Radnor Valley Band.

Vicar of the East Radnor Ministry Area Reverend Rachael Storer said: “Thank you to all who have contributed trees and for your interpretation on what a Christmas tree means to you.

“We have had a wide variety of trees from real ones to one made of books!

“Esco's was judged as the best dressed tree of the festival, well done Sharon Harris, owner of Esco's shop in New Radnor.”

Go along and visit the festival, the church is open in daylight hours.

To celebrate the first Christmas Tree Festival the church hosted a Christmas concert on Sunday, December 15 with the Kington Community Choir, the Radnor Valley School Choir and Ollie Hodge conducting a solo on his guitar.

Rachael added: “It was such a great seasonal atmosphere with beautiful singing and guitar music being sung and played to a packed church. “Refreshments were enjoyed by all after the concert and it was organised by the ladies of the church and Informal Worship Group.

“Just over £90 was raised for church funds, thank you.”
