There is a yellow Met Office weather warning for wind in place for a large part of the country including Shropshire which is in effect until 9pm tonight (Sunday, December 22).

The situation has prompted the popular Shrewsbury visitor attraction to cancel walks.

A spokesman for Attingham Park said: “Due to predicted high winds, the Mile Walk and Deer Park will be closed all day on Sunday and into Monday morning.

“This means it will not be possible to access the Deer Park, Mile Walk, Walled Garden, Orchard, and the Field of Play.

“The Mansion, Paddock, Carriage House Cafe, shop, second hand bookshop, and visitor reception will be open as normal.

“When the winds subside our ranger team will be able to carry out post-storm inspections and will reopen areas as soon as it is safe to do so. This will be announced via our social media and on our webpage.”

Elsewhere, Kinver Edge and Rock Houses, close to the Shropshire/Staffordshire border, is closed.
