As the New Year rolls around, many of us will be looking ahead to our next holidays and spending some time in the sun.
And for those travelling from Birmingham Airport, there are a few spots which Jet2 says are the hottest holiday destinations for its customers. The airline has a dedicated hub at Birmingham Airport and it says that 2025 will be its biggest ever summer programme.
In addition to its top favourite destinations the airline has launched flights and packages to four new destinations as it brings in extra aircraft to Birmingham Airport to cope with demand.
Here are the five of Jet2's most popular holiday destinations for 2025 (in no particular order of preference)
1) Majorca
The Spanish Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean is a fabulous destination enjoyed by many people flying from Birmingham Airport. It's renowned for its beach resorts, sheltered coves, limestone mountains and Roman and Moorish remains.
2) Tenerife
Another Spanish island, but this one is part of the Canaries, off West Africa. It's dominated by Mt Teide, a dormant volcano that is Spain's tallest peak. The island has many beaches, with sand from yellow to black, and resort areas including Los Cristianos and Play de las Americas.
3) Alicante
Spanish destinations are definitely a popular choice for Birmingham Airport Jet2 customers, with this port city on the southeaster Costa Blanca also featuring in the list. The old town, Barrio de la Santa Cruz, is renowned for its narrow streets, coloured houses and nightlife. It is also home to the medieval Castillo de Santa Barbara set on top of a hill with sweeping views of the Mediterranean coast.
4) Dalaman
Away from Spain, Jet2 customers also favour the Turkish district of Dalaman, a muncipality of Mugla Province. Situated on the southwestern coast of Turkey it neighbours Köyceğiz and Ortaca districts.
5) Faro
The final destination that Jet2 has chosen to highlight as a favourite holiday hotspot from Birmingham Airport is the Portuguese Algarve capital. The city's neoclassical Arco da Vila is on the site of a gate that was part of the original Moorish wall. The monumental archway leads to the old town with its cobbled streets.
Four new destinations Jet2 are flying to from Birmingham Airport
1) Porto
Back to Portugal for the first of the new Jet2 destinations from Birmingham Airport that the airline has showcased to us. The coastal city in the northwest of the Europena country is know for its stately bridges and port wine production. It's palatial 19th century Palácio de Bolsa, formerly a stock market, was built to impress potential European investors.
2) Pula
The Croatian seafront city on the tip of the Istrian Peninsual is know for it s protected harbour, beach-lined coast and Roman ruins. Settled in the prehistoric era and valued for strategic location, Pula has been run by The Romans, Ostrogoths and Venetians, as well as the Allied Forces in World War II.
3) Salerno
We travel to Italy for the third new Jet2 destination from Birmingham Airport. This port city which is southeast of Naples sits atop Monte Bonadies, the centuries-old Arechi Castle has amazing sea views. The town is built on the ruins of a Roman temple. Its attractions include the terraced Minerva’s Garden which has been growing medicinal plants since the 14th century.
4) Jerez
We return to Spain for the final holiday hotspot in our feature. You'll find this city in the southern Andalusia region. Its old quarter surrounds the Alcázar de Jerez, a Moorish fortress founded in the 11th century. The city is also known for flamenco music and sherry production in the so-called Sherry Triangle lying to the west.
'Our biggest ever summer programme from Birmingham Airport'
