The two semi-detached cottages in Moortown near High Ercall were the site of a tragic fire in the early hours of Saturday, March 11 last year.

Tackling the large blaze took the efforts of fire crews from around the county several hours, working in what were called "arduous conditions".

Despite their best efforts, a woman was sadly found dead in one of the homes.

Earlier this year, a planning application was submitted seeking permission in principle for the demolition of the properties and the construction of a single detached dwelling.

Now, the 1.29-acre site has gone up for sale.

According to the planning application, which was approved in March, the pair of homes were left "dilapidated" following the blaze.

Approving the principle of development, Telford & Wrekin Council officers ruled that residential use was already established and that the construction of a detached home would be acceptable - if the proposal was considered an improvement to the site.
