Timothy Jones told a court that he had suffered a “bit of a bad spell” in July this year and had been stopped twice on July 4 and again on July 23.

Kate Price, prosecuting, told Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday that 37-year-old Jones of Porthill, in Shrewsbury had already been handed a 16-month driving ban and had received a fine for two drug driving offences on July 4.

Jones pleaded guilty to being over the limits for cannabis, cocaine and the cocaine derivative benzoylecgonine (BZE) for the offences on July 23.

He had recorded a BZE reading of 800 microgrammes per litre of blood, which is 16 times over the legal limit of 50.
