One crew from Hodnet was scrambled to Wellington Road in the village after reports of a chimney fire came in at 12.36pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “Crews used chimney rods and stirrup pump initially before using ladders and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

“An operations officer was in attendance to monitor crew safety on the roof.

“A thermal imaging camera was used to identify and monitor hot spots within the chimney.”

The crew used a 9/10.5m ladder, a hosereel jet, a roof ladder, small gear, a stirrup pump and a thermal camera to deal with the incident.

They sent their incident stop message at 2.28pm.
