Police are encouraging residents to report suspicious activity, after a car was seized in Worfield, near Bridgnorth.

PC Loftus, with Bridgnorth's Safer Neighbourhood Team, shared a picture of the vehicle that was seized on Sunday, following several reports of hare coursing.

Hare coursing is an illegal activity where dogs are used to chase, catch and kill hares and has been illegal since 2004.

Tougher measures to tackle criminals practising the sport were put in place in January 2022. The punishments now include unlimited fines and the possibility of imprisonment.

PC Loftus said:  "Today officers from Bridgnorth SNT have seized a vehicle under the 2004 hunting act from the area of Worfield.  This is following several reports of hare coursing occurring locally.

"Other associated vehicles have been identified and investigations will continue to identify those offending in this illegal activity.

"If you are aware of any incidents of poaching or hare coursing, or see vehicles parked or acting suspiciously on rural country lanes, please contact the police."
