Watch as aunt of cancer-fighting four-year-old Hallie-May praises Bayston Hill community's 'phenomenal support' at fundraising football match
A community has rallied round to show 'phenomenal' support to the family of a little girl who is in hospital with cancer.
The crowds turned out in numbers for a charity football match organised by the former manager of Bayston Hill FC, Gareth Parry at the Lythwood Sports Complex on Saturday morning to keep raising money for four year-old Hallie-Mae Formstone.
She was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia and immediately transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital to commence intensive treatment.
Hallie-Mae's aunt, Hayley Formstone, said: “Everyone has been phenomenal.”
She added that the family were also “very overwhelmed and sad that we are even in this position.”
But they are 'very grateful' and 'humbled by the generosity' of the many supporters who turned out to support the local family.
Parents Sophie and Aaron Formstone are providing around the clock to support their daughter who could be in hospital for six months.
Match organiser Gareth Parry said he had approached the family about organising the event after reading about Hallie-Mae.
“We want to raise as much as possible,” said Mr Parry. The match saw players willingly give donations and there were also stalls and a raffle with big prizes.
So far more than £12,374 has been raised by a GoFundMe campaign.
The money will be used to will go towards paying their mortgage, bills, travel costs, to help the parents focus on their daughter, her treatment and supporting their other two other daughters.
