Longlands Primary School has ranked joint-best in north Shropshire and joint-eighth in the Shropshire local authority area in recently released data.

The figures, available on the Government website, track the overall performance of pupils in schools at the end of key stage two this year - when SATs were taken.

The data is based on the statutory assessments that take place across all primary schools.

The figures reported that 77 per cent of pupils at Longlands Primary School met the expected standard in reading, writing and maths - well above the national figure of 61 per cent.

The Government data outlined: "Pupils are meeting the expected standard if they achieve a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assesses them as 'working at the expected standard' or better in writing."

Headteacher Lisa Millington said: "We are incredibly proud to be ranked eighth in Shropshire, a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our children, staff, and community.

"This achievement highlights the commitment we all share in ensuring every child at Longlands receives the best possible education. We will continue to grow, excel, and inspire every child to reach their full potential."
