On Christmas Eve, the Shrewsbury Market Hall team said goodbye to two traders in what they called a "sad day for the market hall, but a happy day for the high street".
Danny Williams, of lifestyle store Aroma Quartz, and Nisa Mendez, of beauty and wellness company Lily M, will be joining forces and opening a new store on Castle Street in Shrewsbury at the end of January.
A spokesperson for Market Hall Shrewsbury said: "The move will enable them to take their already highly successful and exciting businesses to the next level! The market hall is proud to have been part of their business journeys.
"Danny joined us four years ago, starting out as a market trader for the first time, with his fledgling business selling crystals and his own hand-poured aromatherapy candles and more.
"His business had taken off online over lockdown and the former flight attendant decided to give up his career flying the world, to land his first customer-facing retail space, called Hygge Gifts, in the market hall in 2021.
"He started off on a barrow in the middle of the market. Just over 18 months later, he expanded his business and moved into a larger single-unit market stall in the summer of 2023 and changed the trading name to Aroma Quartz. By the following spring, Danny was ready to expand his business once again, moving to his existing double unit and adding beautiful plants and other new products to his retail range. Along the way, he was a Young Market Trader of the Year finalist at the age of 21.
"Fellow creative, Nisa already had a thriving natural skincare business when she moved into the market hall, just over a year ago. All the while she has been expanding her range of gorgeous products which she makes herself using natural ingredients.
"Both Nisa and Danny are ready to expand again. They have collaborated on a number of products and ranges over the past year, so to open a much larger shop together makes perfect sense. We wish them all the very best in the next chapter of their business journey, and we can’t wait to see the new shop when it opens.
"Congratulations. We’ll miss you Danny and Nisa, but we know it’s the right step for you both."
