Builth Wells Town Council new year message
It's been an eventful year so far since I was re-elected as mayor for a fourth time, said Builth Wells Mayor Councillor Gwyn Davies
Builth Wells is as vibrant and active as always with Builth Wells Town Council trying to be as active in the community as possible .
We have held some great events and occasions this year such as the D Day 80th anniversary, when we did a fish and chips dinner in the pub for the veterans after the proceedings .
Next it was our cenotaph’s 100 year anniversary. We held a civic event to rededicate it and did some much needed painting and installed some new military themed benches.
Builth Wells Town Council seems to come alive when doing events and our family fun day is going from strength to strength.
In the late autumn month many of the businesses and shops have had dramatic face lifts which has given a lot of the main street a fresh new look .
This leads me on to Christmas, which everyone knows is my favourite time of the year. Our Xmas lights are outstanding as ever although it was more of a fight this year to put them up than it needed to be.
We held our first illuminated tractor run to coincide with our Christmas grotto it was a spectacular sight and we even had some snow along with raising thousands of pounds for charity.
It is an honour to serve the Builth people as mayor, and I wish everyone a prosperous new year.
Builth Wells Mayor Councillor Gwyn Davies.
