The show will be the 14th pantomime staged by the cast and crew of Welshampton Bonfire Committee

Rehearsals began in November for the pantomime, named 'Hoodwinked', a local take on the legend of Robin Hood.

Villages and visitors have been told to expect villainy, laughter, and a great deal of silliness during the show, that features a cast of more than 50 people from the village near Ellesmere and surrounding areas.

Director Ian Andrew said: "Providing a glimmer of glamour at the end of winter, Hoodwinked is a very local take on the legend of Robin Hood.

"Rehearsals are bang on target and the cast and crew are looking forward to dazzling audiences with the riotous tale of nasty Sir Nigel Nicely’s undoing at the hands of Robin, Maid Marian and their band of merry men."

The pantomime will be staged on February 21, 22 and 23 with tickets costing £9.50 for adults, £7.50 for seniors and £5.50 for under-16s.

Chairman of Welshampton Bonfire Committee Mick Higgins has urged Shropshire residents to book their tickets early.

"Tickets for last year's show completely sold out," said Mick. "Demand is driven by our reputation for high-quality productions with unique and hilarious scripts, captivating costumes, ingenious staging and a live band. We’d advise early booking to avoid disappointment."

Tickets can be booked via the Welshampton Bonfire Committee website - www.welshampton.org.uk - or by phone on 01948 710180.
