The Environment Agency removed a flood warning for the River Severn at Shrewsbury's West Mid Showground and The Quarry at 5.35pm on Friday.
However, a flood alert remains in place across Shropshire, and the situation is being monitored closely throughout this weekend.
Residents are being asked to avoid using low-lying roads and pathways near rivers.
An update on the warning in Shrewsbury said: "River levels have now fallen below the flood risk threshold. The flood warning for the area has now been removed.
"However, a flood alert remains in force for the wider area, so flooding may still affect roads and low-lying land.
"Further rainfall and possibly snow is expected over the weekend, which may cause river levels to rise. We continue to monitor the situation.
"Our incident response staff are checking the condition of defences. Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
The flood alert for wider Shropshire added: "River levels remain high but are now falling at the Crew Green, Montford, Welsh Bridge and Buildwas river gauges following recent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue.
"We expect flooding to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Shrewsbury to Upper Arley. Locations that may be affected are White Abbey, Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth."
Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for snow and ice in the region - coming into effect from 6pm today.
From 12pm there is a yellow warning for snow and ice and snow is expected throughout the evening and into Sunday.
The Met Office amber weather warning states: "Snow and freezing rain will likely lead to disruption to transport and some other services.
"There is a good chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
"Travel delays on roads are likely, stranding some vehicles and passengers. Some road closures and longer journey times possible.
"Some delays and cancellations to bus, rail and air travel are likely. There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off.
"Untreated pavements and cycle paths likely to be impassable."
