Six-month closure of south Shropshire footpath due to damage after Storm Darragh

A public footpath near Church Stretton will be closed for up to six months after damage following Storm Darragh.

Part of footpath 61 in Cardington, near Church Stretton, has been closed and will remain so for up to six months.

The section of path including in the order skirts around Middle Hill Farm - from Public Bridleway 7 at grid reference SO 4913 9398, in a general north-north-west direction, then a west-south-west direction and then a southerly direction to grid reference SO 4909 9394.

The public notice states: "The highway will be closed by way of a Temporary Closure Order from the 1 January 2025 for a period of six months.

"The closure is required on the grounds of public safety due to damage caused to the highway’s surface during Storm Darragh."

An alternative route is available along public footpath 62, north of the closed path.
