Housebuilder's report highlights its work in Shropshire
A Shropshire housebuilder built more than 500 homes in the region in the past year and contributed over £95 million to the UK’s economic output.
David Wilson Homes Mercia said it completed built 576 homes in a new report which measures the housebuilder’s social and economic contribution to the region over the past financial year, from July 1, 2023 to June 30 2024.
Included within the company’s socio-economic footprint were key figures relating to the company’s support for the housebuilding supply chain, local communities, environment, public services and employment.
The figures show that the housebuilder supported 1,322 jobs directly and through its contractors and suppliers.
The company also directly employed eight new graduates, trainees and apprentices, supported 268 subcontractor companies and 403 supplier companies and provided 153 new school places.
It also created 15 hectares of green space in the area for residents and the public to use and contributed £5.6 million locally including its Community Infrastructure Levy and S106 contributions.
The business also donated £95,900 to charities, its report said.
