Over the weekend Transport for Wales announced that a landslip at Gobowen had caused disruption on the route - although it was operating in one direction.
This morning however the company has confirmed that the route is entirely shut.
Trains will still run between Chester to Shrewsbury - but will take an alternate route.
People wishing to travel to Gobowen, Chirk, Ruabon and Wrexham General, will now have to use a rail replacement service being operated by Big Coach Company, Keane's and Lakeside.
It added that extended journey times would be expected due to conditions on the roads.
Transport for Wales said the disruption is expected until the end of Monday, January 6.
An update on its website said: "Due to a landslip at Gobowen all lines are blocked."
It added: "Due to a landslip in the Gobowen area, the line between Wrexham and Shrewsbury is closed.
"Trains will divert via an alternative route, not calling at any intermediate stations. Road transport will be in operation for intermediate stations."
