Tamba Momodu was shot six times “at point blank range with a powerful handgun” at the Bridges Business Park outside The Fitness Factory in Horsehay on October 13, 2020.

Stafford Crown Court was told that Mr Momodu had been tried and acquitted of the murder of Abdullahi Tarabi in London in 2017.

Mahamud Tarabi, Abdullahi’s brother, is one of four men accused of murdering Mr Momodu in a “cold-blooded” alleged act of retribution. One of the other defendants, Ahmed Karshe, was the cousin of Abdullahi.

The court was told the group made 17 trips including 11 "reconnaissance" journeys to the murder scene and planned out the attack with “military precision”.

James Curtis KC, prosecuting, told the 14-strong jury: “This was a cold-blooded execution of a young man by other males, working together, ambushing him in broad daylight.”

He told them that Mr Momodu was “unarmed” and “caught unawares” as he was on his way to the gym.
