Tamba Momodu, served time in a young offenders institute for drug dealing from October 2019 to August 2020.
Just a couple of months later, the 20-year-old was gunned down outside The Fitness Factory at Bridges Business Park in Horsehay, Telford on October 13.
Stafford Crown Court was told by prosecutor James Curtis KC how Merje Ngoy, one of four men on trial for murder, added Mr Momodu on Snapchat under the username Mzeeno MB.
He made the social media request just one hour and 23 minutes after Mr Momodu had been released from prison. Ngoy, the prosecution say, was also involved in torching a Skoda Karoq which was used in the killing.
"Someone who tries to link up with that (Snapchat account) as a friend would have access to his movements," Mr Curtis said.
