Builth Wells Mayor has had a busy time with numerous engagements
Getting up close with pantomime dames and attending the 50th anniversary of an extension at a Builth Wells care home, the town’s mayor has had a busy time.
Councillor Gwyn Davies said he had recently attended a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of an extension at Brynhyfryd residential care home in Builth Wells.
The care home on Love Lane provides accommodation for up to 42 residents, offering 24-hour care in a supportive environment, catering to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities.
Two employees were also presented with long service awards for five years and 15 years during the ceremony.
Councillor Davies said he had also been along to Moca Cymru’s performance of The Snowsmith and the Young Farmer’s Club Old Timers Pantomime, where he said he got up close with two pantomime dames and ended up wearing more make-up than them!
He said he had also been monitoring and helping with the town’s clean-up after Storm Darragh. He said everything was more or less back to normal now, but images of the flooded town received thousands of views on social media and it was reported across the UK.
Councillor Davies said: “There was a lot more debris in the flood water this time than I have ever seen before.”
Councillor Mark Hammond said; “I think we need to be more vocal next year to Natural Resources Wales.”
But Councillor Davies said: “Even if they had an idea of what to do I don’t think they have any money to do anything anyway.”
