The council has warned there is just one week left for parents and carers across Telford and Wrekin to apply for their child’s primary school place.

Children born between September 2020 and August 2021 are due to start primary school in September this year.

To ensure their children are allocated a school place, parents and carers must have submitted an application to Telford & Wrekin Council by January 15, 2025.

Parents and carers of children moving from an infant to junior school - moving from years two to three, must also apply for their child’s place by the January 15, 2025.

Up to four schools can be ranked in order of preference on the application.

The council will email on National Offer Day, April 16, 2025, to confirm a place.

Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said: "Starting primary school is a huge milestone for every child and one that our schools will help them embrace to ensure they have the best start to their education.

"To ensure the process is as smooth as possible, it’s really important parents and carers get their primary school applications in before the deadline.

"This allows them to identify their preferences, which will be considered as places are confirmed for each child.

“If you haven’t got your child’s application in as yet, please don’t delay and submit it as soon as possible.”
