Work to refurbish the 1970s Telford Central Fire Station is almost complete, with the contractors having now left the building.
In 2021, McPhillips was awarded a £9 million contract for the redevelopment of the station. The building had to be reconfigured to become what was called "a resilient, state-of-the-art facility for emergency response, training, and community engagement".
Building work began on the site in August 2022, but the project was delayed after the original plan faced some problems with fire regulations.
