Works in the area resumed last Monday after pausing for a break over Christmas, and visitors to the town have faced lengthy waits and queues with temporary traffic lights in place.

Earlier this week, Shropshire Council's deputy leader, Ian Nellins spoke to the Shropshire Star saying the "critical" works are on track for completion as scheduled, and thanked residents for their patience.

Work includes the continuation of paving works alongside the introduction of new signs, posts, permanent traffic signals and street lighting.

Residents and businesses have been frustrated by delays and traffic in the county town, and the manager at Simon Boyd, located on Smithfield Road near Shrewsbury Railway Station, said staff have changed the way they travel to work due to the works.
