Vehicle hits pole and careers down steep bank near Welshpool
A vehicle hit a pole and careered down a bank near the Shropshire/Wales border early this morning.

The incident happened at Middletown, Powys at around 5.20am.
The driver managed to free themselves before firefighters arrived, and was helped up the bank using a ladder by crews. Police were also on the scene.
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 5.20am on Thursday, January 9, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting that a road traffic collision had taken place near Welshpool.
“One vehicle in collision with pole and located down steep bank.
“Casualty self-extricated and crews used short extension ladder to assist driver from bank.”
Two fire engines including the rescue tender were sent to the scene from Minsterley. An operations officer was also in attendance.
West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service have been contacted for an update.
