Festive cheer and community spirit shine bright at Llandrindod Wells Community Fridge Christmas dinner!
Ysgol Trefonnen in Llandrindod Wells was transformed into a haven of holiday cheer in December as the Community Fridge hosted a truly special Community Christmas Dinner, bringing people together in the true spirit of the season.
With festive music, twinkling decorations, and the smell of delicious home-cooked food, the event captured the magic of Christmas while celebrating the strength and kindness of the community.
Organisers were delighted to welcome around 70 guests who joined them for a hearty festive meal, which included all the Christmas favourites.
From turkey with all the trimmings to mince pies, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
But the magic didn’t stop there – thanks to the generosity of the team and the support of local Police Community Support Officers, the organisers prepared and delivered 10 additional meals to vulnerable families in the community who couldn’t attend, ensuring they, too, felt the warmth of Christmas. An additional five meals were set aside for individuals unable to make it to the event.
Family Liaison officer at the school, Jen Craven said: “When we include all the meals served, both at the event and delivered, we estimate that between 90 and 100 people shared in this wonderful experience – a testament to the power of community spirit.
“This remarkable day would not have been possible without the dedication of our amazing volunteers.
“Many of them spent their Friday night prepping well into the late hours to ensure everything was perfect for the big day. They were back again bright and early on Saturday morning, bringing boundless energy and enthusiasm to ensure every detail was just right. “From setting tables and serving meals to clearing up and welcoming guests, their hard work and selflessness were the true embodiment of the Christmas spirit.
“The day’s festivities were made even more magical with a surprise visit from Santa Claus himself! Despite his busy schedule in the run-up to Christmas, Santa made time to join us, spreading joy and handing out gifts to children. His cheerful presence lit up the room, creating countless smiles and unforgettable memories.
“The sense of togetherness and generosity that defined the day extended beyond those in attendance. It was heart-warming to see how many people rallied to support this event, whether by attending, donating their time, or contributing in other ways.
“It is a powerful reminder of the incredible community we have here at Ysgol Trefonnen and in Llandrindod Wells – one that looks out for one another and celebrates the true meaning of Christmas: love, kindness, and shared joy.
“We would like to thank everyone who played a part in making this event such a success. Whether you were a volunteer, a guest, a local partner, or simply someone who helped spread the word, your contribution mattered. It is events like this that showcase the incredible bonds that make our community so special.”
