The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service recorded a total of 48 injuries to residents as a result of 1,588 deliberate fires in total between 2019/20 and 2023/24.
Figures obtained by Public Interest Lawyers revealed that the fire service attended 5,291 fire incidents in total since 2019.
Between the 2023 and 2024 financial years, firefighters attended 999 "primary" and "secondary" fires in the region.
Primary fires are deemed as potentially more serious that cause harm to people or damage to properties while secondary fires are generally smaller outdoor fires, do not involve people or property and include refuse fires, grassland fires and fires in derelict buildings or vehicles.
The data obtained by a freedom of information request revealed that the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended 600,324 incidents in total in the year ending March 2024 - a decrease of 3.6 per cent compared with the previous year where they attended 622,659.
