Images released and renewed appeal launched following serious assault incident in Oswestry

A set of CCTV images have been released by police as part of an investigation into an incident in the late hours of Boxing Day which left a man with a serious head injury.

West Mercia Police have released the images of two men the force it believed could help with enquiries following the assault incident in Oswestry.

The force said the assault took place on Albion Hill outside Oswestry Vapes at around 10pm on Boxing Day and saw six men assault a man in his 30s, leaving him with a serious head injury which required hospital treatment.

The public have now been asked to help with identifying two men seen in CCTV images who West Mercia Police said were in the area at the time and could help with the investigation.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Officers investigating a serious assault in Oswestry on Boxing Day have released CCTV images of two men who they believe can help with their enquiries.

"The assault took place on Albion Hill in the town, outside Oswestry Vapes on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at around 10pm.

"Six men assaulted a man, aged in his 30s, leaving him with a serious head injury, which required hospital treatment. The group of men were in The George public house shortly before the assault took place.

"Following enquiries, detectives are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the two men in the CCTV images, as they believe they were in the area at the time of the assault, and can help with their investigation.
