Adam Piggott, 35, of Lime Street, was sentenced to 10 months, suspended for 18 months at Shrewsbury Crown Court for seven offences under the Computer Misuse Act.

Piggott pleaded guilty in November 2024 after an investigation by the West Mercia Police Cyber Crime Unit.

The investigation uncovered he had hacked into social media accounts belonging to six victims between 2019 and 2021 and copied private images and videos which he then distributed and shared with an online community of like-minded individuals.

He was also given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which will run for five years. His CBO will restrict and monitor his behaviour and online activity.

PC Tom Pawley, from West Mercia Police's cyber crime unit, said: “The images and videos which have been taken are the most personal and Piggott’s actions have caused significant harm and distress to his victims.

“The victim’s unwavering courage in coming forward to co-operate with the police has been nothing short of remarkable.

“Their bravery in providing statements and supporting the investigation has been crucial to ensuring Piggott’s sentencing.

“We take hacking offences seriously and this case demonstrates our commitment to ensuring those who engage in illegal cyber activities are held accountable.”
