Telford thief who was caught with knife and assaulted policeman avoids prison
A prolific thief who was caught with a knife and assaulted a policeman has avoided prison.

Samantha Sheehan, aged 37, tried to steal £379 worth of stock from Asda in Donnington on May 27 last year, and assaulted the officer in the same incident.
She was then caught with a five-inch blade and a quantity of cannabis in Castlecroft, Stirchley, on December 8 last year.
Sheehan also targeted Co-op stores in Telford eight times between March and December last year.
She stole more than £260 worth of stock, including meat, coffee, wine, laundry detergent, teabags, sweets, toothpaste and hot food.
Sheehan, of Boulton Grange, Stirchley, Telford, pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker, attempted theft, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of cannabis and eight counts of theft.
Magistrates at Kidderminster handed her a 26-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
She must pay £220.55 in compensation and do 30 rehabilitation activity days.
Magistrates ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the knife and the cannabis.
